20 or 50 minutes (depending on traffic) north of the Golden Gate in the rolling dairylands of West Marin, Rancho Nicasio is like a quick trip to Wyoming (minus the barfights).
And with better music. There is cowboy, rockabilly, rock, bluegrass, blues, swing, c&w and in-a-category-of-its-own music performed nightly on weekends year-round.
On Nov. 19 they’re having a big 11th Anniversary Party with a great Beatles tribute band.
This is not the place to take paid-up PETA members. The walls are covered in taxidedermia. The restaurant serves hearty lunch and dinners daily and brunch on Sunday. But you can also dine well on the bar menu which includes Tomales bay oysters and fried Dungeness crab burgers.
Daylight visits offer the advantage of being able to see the bounteous beauties of West Marin, the land that time forgot.
